Ride Mont Ventoux indoors: choose the right virtual climb
Looking for a virtual Mont Ventoux ride? Understand the three approaches, compare Zwift and ROUVY versions, and plan a steady indoor climbing session.

Mont Ventoux has a way of getting into your plans. Maybe you have watched the pale summit on television. Maybe you are thinking about a trip. Or maybe you just want a long climb to make a rainy afternoon feel like an adventure.
You can ride virtual versions indoors, but the route name deserves a closer look before you start. Everycol does not currently have a built-in Mont Ventoux route. This guide explains where to find a Ventoux version, what to compare, and which other climbs are available here.
One mountain, three different approaches
The main road approaches start in Bédoin, Malaucène and Sault. The regional park identifies Sault as the less difficult ascent, while local tourism distinguishes the southern approach through Bédoin from the route through Malaucène and Mont Serein.
That matters indoors because a generic Ventoux search can hide the starting side, an approach before the climb, or a finish below the summit. Do not assume every result represents the full road you had in mind.
When comparing routes, open the map and elevation profile. Check the starting place, finishing place and total ascent together. The most useful description is the one that tells you exactly what you will ride.
| Starting point | What to check in a virtual version |
|---|---|
| Bédoin | Whether the recording or route includes the village approach and reaches the summit |
| Malaucène | Whether it follows the approach through Mont Serein rather than the southern road |
| Sault | Where it joins the upper climb and whether the advertised distance includes the full approach |
Zwift’s version is Mont Ven Top
Zwift places its interpretation of Mont Ventoux in the France world. Its official introduction calls the climb Mont Ven Top and identifies the Ven Top route as the direct way to the summit.
The distinction between a route and a climb segment matters here. A route can include an approach, and other rides in the same world can turn off before the summit. Check the current route description inside Zwift instead of choosing something because Ventoux appears in the scenery.
Choose this version if you want a constructed virtual world around the climb and already enjoy how Zwift feels. Check current access, device support and subscription terms directly before making it the reason you subscribe.
ROUVY offers filmed Ventoux routes
ROUVY’s official catalog includes Mont Ventoux rides from Bédoin. Its France collection and broader route directory show different Ventoux entries with different distances, which is a useful reminder to inspect the individual route rather than treating the search result as one fixed climb.
If seeing the recorded road is the main attraction, this is a natural place to look. Read the selected route’s start, finish and elevation details. A shorter recording can still be an enjoyable ride, but it may not be the complete ascent you intended.
Before a long attempt, try a shorter ride on the same equipment. You want to know the video playback, trainer connection and controls are comfortable before committing your whole afternoon.
Make a long climb manageable before it starts
Give the ride a clear purpose. Exploring the road, practising a steady effort and chasing your own previous time are different plans. Pick one, then choose an effort that fits it.
For a first attempt, leave room in the opening part of the ride. You do not need to answer every gradient change with more power. Let the gears do their job, find a cadence that feels sustainable and pay attention to how the effort develops.
Set up cooling, drinks and anything else you expect to need before starting. Leave the app controls within reach. If you discover that the session does not fit your day, a shorter ride is a sensible result, not an unfinished obligation.
A route profile is especially useful here. It tells you whether the remaining distance is mostly climbing or includes easier sections. A bare distance remaining number cannot give you that context.
Use the virtual climb for what it can teach you
An indoor version can help you practise sustained riding, notice your pacing habits and get familiar with a route’s broad shape. It does not reproduce the actual mountain’s traffic, weather, wind or descending.
It also cannot promise an outdoor finishing time. Different apps use different routes and physics; your trainer’s resistance behavior is another variable. Keep comparisons within the same route and setup if you want a useful personal reference.
If a real Ventoux trip is on your calendar, use the destination’s current access and visitor guidance separately. An open virtual route is not evidence that the outdoor summit road is open.
Want a mountain ride in Everycol today?
Ventoux is not in Everycol’s current built-in catalog. If that exact mountain is your goal, choose an app that actually offers it. There is no reason to pretend a different summit is the same trip.
If you mainly want a substantial climb on a mapped 3D road, Everycol offers Alpe d’Huez and the Galibier in its French Alps region. Haleakalā: Cycle to the Sun is a much longer option in Maui. Each has a public profile you can inspect before signing up.
Start with the climb that fits your available time, and check your computer and Bluetooth trainer compatibility. A good indoor mountain ride begins with the road you meant to choose and a setup you can trust to work.
Your questions, answered
Can I ride Mont Ventoux in Everycol?
Not as a built-in route today. Everycol’s available mountain routes include Alpe d’Huez, the Galibier and Haleakalā. Use the public catalog to check what is actually available.
Are all virtual Ventoux routes the same?
No. They can use different approaches, start points, finishes and riding models. Check the individual route profile, not just the mountain’s name.
Does finishing Ventoux indoors mean I am ready for the outdoor climb?
It is one piece of riding experience, not a readiness certificate. Outdoor preparation also involves conditions, equipment, road skills and the demands of the exact route.
